An exciting opportunity exists for 2 x experienced, qualified, and driven Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to join a dynamic team.
- From $99,739 to $108,139 (HEW Level 7), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.

THE ROLE
To support the Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst in the provision of budgeting and forecasting, long-term financial planning and financial reporting services to business units across the University Group.
Organisational Context
Group Finance is responsible for providing a broad range of financial services to support the University’s core mission of teaching and research.
The University Finance function is organised into the following areas:
- Financial Performance and Business Partnering - provides planning, reporting, analysis, and business partnering activities for business units across the University Group. Positions will be organised across 2 teams:
- Financial Planning and Analysis - full responsibility for the budgeting and forecasting processes, and financial reporting of all business units across the University Group. The team will also work closely with Finance Business Partners to provide analysis and insights for stakeholders.
- Finance Business Partners - full responsibility for providing a concise suite of high impact, value added services to Executive Group members and their teams. This will include providing critical analysis and insight, scenario modelling and cost-benefit analyses, commercial evaluation, and strategic financial advice. This team will include a specialist business partnering for MQ Health Finance role with specific responsibilities to the MQ Health CEO and COO.
- Financial Control - provides technical accounting, internal controls and compliance advisory for business units across the University Group. Leads the External Financial Reporting process for the University Group. Responsible for the University Group Financial Risk Management Framework.
- Financial Operations, Treasury and Tax - provides general accounting activities, including month-end and year-end financial closure of businesses across the University. The team will have full responsibility for month-end close activities and will be responsible for the primary review of University Group-wide results. Provides technical treasury and taxation advice and services for the University Group.
- Finance Shared Services* - provides efficient transactional finance services to the University Group, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Purchasing.

Key accountabilities
- Critically review trends and analyses in consolidated management reports/budget & capital review (BCR) information packs for discussions with Business Partners
- Preparation of monthly management reports and analyses
- Prepare long-term planning for the University, including operational revenue and expenditure, and capital spend projections for the Group (including controlled entities)
- Finalise detailed 5-year budgets (incl. capital) of the Group for both operating and grant/ project ledgers, for discussion with Business Partners
- Assist in the preparation of financial performance sections of Board papers for review by the Head of FP&A
- Conduct research and analysis to develop preliminary financial models, financial evaluations and cost-benefit analyses (incl. benefits tracking) for new and/or existing business initiatives
- Support the redesign and implementation of the new budget process and liaise with the relevant IT teams (e.g., Systems/Business Intelligence) to enhance efficiencies
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships within Finance and throughout the University
- Works with Business Partners in the provision of monthly management reports and other standardised reports
- Works with Financial Operations to provide accurate trend analyses in the preparation of budget, forecast and long-term planning bottom-up builds
- Supports the Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst, the Head of FP&A and Business Partners in the provision of draft budgets and forecasts, for Business Partners to finalise with individual business unit(s)
- Seeks advice from Financial Control on technical accounting matters as required to produce reliable budgets and forecasts for individual business units, and long-term planning for the University
