**Role**:
The position¿s primary function at Belmont High School is to ensure that the school¿s buildings, gardens and grounds are well maintained and presented and that all work undertaken complies with statutory obligations and Department Standards.

The maintenance gardener is required to work flexibly and reliably within tight timelines and under the direction of the Facilities Manager in a team environment. The maintenance gardener supports the school staff with the regular maintenance and garden services as directed by the Facilities Manager.

The maintenance gardeners roll in the school community is to be able to communicate effectively and develop a good working relationship with staff members, students and contractors at all levels. It is important the maintenance gardener operates in a professional, courteous, efficient manner at all times, respecting confidentiality.

This position has line management responsibilities to the Principal but on a day to day basis is accountable to the Business Manager and the Facilities Manager.

The gardener is part of the Education Support Team, whose responsibility is to work co-operatively as part of the team, ensuring a professional, productive, friendly and efficient workplace. This effectively leads towards better student outcomes.

This role has an attendance requirement during the school holiday period.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain school buildings, ground areas and outdoor facilities using a variety of landscaping and maintenance skills as directed.
- To provide general maintenance to the school buildings and classrooms including small Maintenance jobs as directed.
- Maintain lawns and other grassed areas of the school grounds.
- Maintain existing garden beds and develop new garden beds as directed.
- Maintain all garden equipment.
- Maintain online data records of servicing and tasks completed.
- Understand and comply with all OH&S compliance.
- To complete relevant professional development training.
- To undertake other duties and responsibilities within the dimensions of work level as requested by the principal or business manager.
- To be an effective member of the schools team and contribute towards the school¿s buildings and grounds.
