Forensic and Scientific Services (FSS) is a hub of co-located laboratories at Coopers Plains in Brisbane. We are ready to respond to civil emergencies, crime and potential threats to our health, environment and our economy with tailor-made, smart scientific solutions.
As the Property Officer, you will be required to operate a range of computer software (word processing, LIMS e.g: AUSLAB, Forensic Register) with a high level of accuracy to ensure integrity of records and reporting are maintained.

**What we are looking for**:

- Ability to gain an understanding of sample handling procedures and willingness to handle various types of forensic material, including biological specimens.
- Follow documented procedures, in accordance with relevant legislation, and in line with Workplace Health and Safety guidelines, performed to an acceptable level of accuracy as required in a forensic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team without direct supervision and ability to guide the project and meet deadlines.
- High-level of attention to detail.

**Qualifications, registration and other requirements**:

- Whilst not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded.
- Provision of a DNA sample may be required for use on the staff DNA elimination database to comply with accreditation requirements.
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the vaccine preventable disease Hepatitis B. MMR, Pertussis and Varicella vaccinations are recommended.
- It will be a mandatory condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (Health Employment Directive No. 12/21 and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
