Clifford Chance seeks a Business Development Adviser to help support and proactively drive forward the business development and marketing strategy for our Sydney and Perth offices. This role will be focused on supporting the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice and Tech sector.
The Australia Business Development and Marketing team is responsible for helping partners and lawyers to develop the firm’s business, build its relationships with existing and potential clients and also manage the firm’s market profile.
You will be a critical member of the Australia team that works across the country. You will liaise directly with partners, lawyers and other business professionals. You will work very closely with the Asia Pacific and wider global Client & Market Development (CMD) and Brand, Communications and Marketing (BCM) teams.
This is a hands-on role that requires quick and accurate work. Key attributes are a genuine enthusiasm to be a part of a busy team, an ability to prioritise, willingness and ability to take ownership of tasks with strong attention to detail and a proactive and positive mindset.
You will be enthusiastic, engaging and considered, with the ability to build relationships across many levels of business. You must be a proven collaborator, a strong team player and be comfortable taking ownership of the tasks at hand.
Key Responsibilities
This position plays a key role in supporting our Sydney and Perth offices and supporting the BD & Marketing Manager on Australian-wide initiatives.
Key elements of the role are:
- Business development and strategy:_
- Develop market knowledge, understanding and insights to identify potential business opportunities.
- Implementation of strategic initiatives to support the growth of the practice and sector you support.
- Identify and co-ordinate cross-selling opportunities with other practices, sectors, and client teams.
- Understand the strategic objectives (on a local and regional level) for the practice areas you support and work with the legal professionals and wider BD team to drive business development initiatives that support these objectives.
- Client value:_
- Support on management of key client relationships.
- Conduct formal client feedback including matter reviews, relationship feedback and pitch reviews.
- Keep abreast of client issues to enable proactive identification of business development opportunities including with other practices, sectors and client team.
- Relationship building:_
- Develop strong relationships with the legal professionals across multiple practice areas and business professionals.
- Develop strong relationships across the APAC (and global as appropriate) CMD and BCM team so that you can effectively connect with the wider network.
- Proposals and capability statements:_
- End to end management of pitches, including panel pitches.
- Work with legal professionals to develop strong key selling messages for pitches.
- Work with CMD in the wider APAC network and globally to collaborate on proposals where Australian input is needed.
- Review and update Australian marketing collateral including capability materials.
- Brand, communications, and marketing:_
- Work closely with the legal professionals and regional BCM team to develop and execute key profile-raising initiatives, including thought leadership and marketing campaigns, client seminars, conferences, events.
- Work with legal professionals to identity opportunities to build their profile in the market and execute accordingly.
- Work with support teams to prepare legal directory and award submissions.
- Liaise with the PR/comms team on all media and PR opportunities for practice areas you support.
- Collaborate with the Practice Support Coordinators, facilities team, and regional support teams to manage all activities relating to end to end client event management (including guest list, coordination of slides, management of speakers and logistics).
- Understand the technologies in place to deliver events and digital profiling initiatives (CC Podcast, CC iPlayer, Loop Up, WebEx ON24). Work with regional BCM and support teams to execute.
