We currently have an exciting role for you to join our Community Safety Team as a Community Safety Officer. In this role you will be responsible for improving community wellbeing and safety, by fulfilling our regulation obligations through education and enforcement.
**Key responsibilities of the position include**:
- Exercise legislated authority under relevant legislation
- Undertake enforcement action, as appropriate, including issuing notices and orders and institute follow up action where necessary
- Provide technical advice to the public on community safety matters
- Investigate and enforce legislation under the Dog & Cat Management Act including seizing and impounding any stray, lost or dangerous dogs
- Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs to increase awareness and protect public health and safety
- Ability to work over a 7-day roster including outside of business hours and be flexible in working areas across Council.
**The successful applicant will have**:
- A current Australian Driver’s License
- Investigations training is desirable
- Conflict resolution training is desirable
- Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to adapt and relate to people from diverse backgrounds
- Effective negotiation skills to deliver positive outcomes to the community in situations where there may be conflict.

This is a Level 4 position which has a current salary range of $94,525 - $101,474 per annum (plus superannuation).
