**The opportunity**

Are you passionate about keeping community spaces safe, functional, and looking their best? Hobsons Bay City Council is seeking a proactive and skilled **Facilities Maintenance Officer** to help maintain our diverse range of Council-owned buildings and assets.

In this practical role you’ll deliver high-quality, efficient, and responsive general maintenance services across the municipality. From minor repairs to upkeep tasks, your work will support the safety, presentation, and functionality of our community and operational spaces.

**What you’ll be working on**:

- Carry out minor repairs, modifications, and routine inspections across Council facilities to ensure safety, functionality, and presentation.
- Prioritise and respond to maintenance requests based on urgency, risk, and community impact, escalating issues when needed.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and tradespeople to coordinate works and communicate progress or disruptions.
- Operate tools and equipment safely, follow OHS protocols, and ensure all work is risk assessed and compliant with Council standards.
- Maintain accurate records, manage supplies within budget, and contribute to service improvements through reporting and team collaboration.

**What You’ll Bring to the Role**:

- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and the ability to travel across the municipality.
- Practical experience in general building maintenance, carpentry, or similar handyperson roles.
- A strong understanding of safe manual handling and maintenance practices.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

**Desirable (but not essential)**:

- A relevant trade certificate or licence, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience conducting asset audits or condition assessments.
