**The Role**

This is ongoing role which involves supporting the First Assistant Secretary (Employment Policy and Analytics Division) in their day-to-day business, with a strategic focus on the key policy work being undertaken across the division.

The Employment Policy and Analytics Division aims to support economic growth by developing employment and active labour market policies that assist job seekers to find work and increase workforce participation. The division provides advice on the domestic and global labour markets, with an overall focus on lifting labour market efficiency, addressing capacity constraints, structural change and enhancing both social inclusion and employer engagement. The division advises on the economic dimension of the department’s work and assists with the use of research, data and evidence to underpin policy and delivery.

Reporting directly to the First Assistant Secretary, the Executive Officer plays a vital role in providing high quality advice and support to the division. A key feature of this role is building strong collaborative working relationships across the division, the Group, and the broader department, when working on strategic projects and initiatives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Support the workflow through the First Assistant Secretary’s office, including responding to and triaging urgent, complex, or sensitive requests, anticipating and managing changing circumstances and ensuring priorities and deadlines are met.
- Coordinate, quality assurance and collate responses to a wide range of documents including New Policy Proposals, budget related documentation, briefs (including Senate Estimates), presentations, correspondence, and discussion papers.
- Identify risks and sensitivities and provide strategic and technical advice to the First Assistant Secretary and Senior Executive in the division using professional judgement.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
