The Office for Women is the central gender equality institution within the APS, responsible for serving the Minister for Women and the Prime Minister to deliver on their agenda for gender equality. The Office is committed to driving gender equality in Australia by addressing the priority areas under the Government’s Working for Women: A Strategy for Gender Equality - gender-based violence, unpaid and paid care, economic equality and security, health, and leadership, representation and decision-making.
**What you will do**
The Executive Officer to the Executive Director, Office for Women, is a dynamic and highly influential role, offering an opportunity to support the Executive Director in driving transformative change within the women’s sector and across government. This role is integral to enhancing Office for Women’s influence national and internationally, requiring a strategic and externally facing focus that is not typical of traditional government Executive Officer positions.
As the Executive Officer, you will be a key enabler of the Executive Director’s strategic vision, providing high-level support in stakeholder engagement, event management, and international collaboration. You will act as a trusted advisor, representing the Office for Women in high profile settings and facilitating meaningful engagements across government, non-government organisations and leaders in the women’s sector. This is an opportunity to contribute to gender equality and women’s safety initiatives within the Australian Government.
Key duties of the role include:
**High-level stakeholder engagement**:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across government, NGOs, academia and the private sector.
- Represent the Office for Women in external meetings, conferences and forums, ensuring alignment with the Executive Director’s strategic priorities.
- Coordinate and manage stakeholder communications, working closely with the Departments communications team to enhance the Office’s public profile and manage the Executive Director’s speeches and communications.
**Executive support and collaboration across the Department**:
- Provide high-level executive support to the Executive Director, including working with Executive Assistant on diary management, travel arrangements (domestic and international) and meeting coordination.
- Work closely with other Executive Officers and Executive Assistants within the Office for Women division to ensure the senior executive officers in the group are supported in meeting departmental governance obligations.
- Collaborate with senior executive officers across PM&C and the Office for Women
**Event management and international engagement**:
- Lead the planning, coordination and executive of high-profile events, meetings and international engagements of the Executive Director.
- Support the Executive Director in preparations for global and domestic forums, by coordinating logistics, briefing material and speeches.
**Leadership and team collaboration**:
- Foster a positive and collaborative work culture, supporting the Executive Director in empowering teams in the Office for Women to drive impactful change
- Mentor junior executive staff, leveraging your experience with the women’s sector to strengthen relationships between the sector and the Office for women.
**Cross location support**:
Support the Executive Director across Sydney and Canberra offices, with a willingness to travel as required to provide direct support.
