We seek to hire a product specialist at our Dandenong South, Australia office to provide technical support to Gates customers, field sales personnel, and internal customer service staff.

**OVERVIEW**:

- Assists the Automotive Team in to achieve divisional objectives and goals through product line development, cataloguing and technical support.

**THE ROLE**:

The incumbent reports to the Product Manager - Automotive. The role aims to assure the company's market leadership position, and maximise sales and profit, through:

- Inventory support (forecasting, product life cycle management etc)
- Pricing analysis (price review and management with consideration to the competition, the market, and corporate objectives)
- Technical support & training timelines.

The responsibilities will fall into the following primary areas:

- Will become the resident Automotive Replacement product technical expert
- Manage the quality process, ensure resolution of technical issues so they kept at minimum and contribute to promoting a high quality image for the company to the market, provide technical assistance and support to staff and customers, develop and conduct training on assigned product groups.

3. Product Management Support
- provides assistance in general product management duties, such as product development, market pricing, managing inventory, new product launches, and market research

4. Sales & Marketing Support and Special Projects
- Interacts closely with Sales and Marketing teams to support them in the planning of promotional activity, and production of marketing collaterals and marketing communication; works closely with Sales Management to influence focus and prioritisation of product categories and activity by the field team; provides support on ad hoc and special projects

**REQUIRED SKILLS**
- Must have mechanical aptitude and technical competence in order to inspect vehicles and equipment and fit-check products
- Must have a problem solving mindset to provide solutions to complex or unique problems
- Collaborative. Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with ability to write detailed reports and plans, conduct training, make presentations, and writing catalogue texts/instructions/technical literature.
- Computer literacy required to operate programs that create, manipulate, and query voluminous research data. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
- Experience with administering/managing databases.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor's degree or other tertiary qualification in a relevant technical or automotive engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, **or** the equivalent minimum 2 years' experience in automotive aftermarket.
