**ABOUT THE ORGANISATION**

Fresh Start is a not-for-profit organisation concentrating on detoxing and developing a drug-free lifestyle. Their unique and comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment approach has helped over 14,000 people and their families out of the vicious cycle of addiction.

They are rapidly growing and are now seeking a Support Worker to join their Northam Recovery Rehabilitation Centre. Fresh Start is looking for someone passionate, committed, and dynamic with the ability to support clients within an evidence-based framework, in addition to completing the admission process, including liaising with Centrelink and other administrative duties, daily tasks in the service and facilitating group work and client activities.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

As an enthusiastic and effective Support Worker, you will report to the General Manager, provide administrative support and day-to-day care for Fresh Start’s clients, and assist staff members at the Northam Recovery Programme.
- **The key responsibilities include**:_
- Provide direct support to clients, including personal care and emotional support
- Collaborate and empower clients to make sound decisions and informed choices
- Monitor clients' physical and emotional well-being, recording any concerns and reporting them to the relevant clinician
- Assist in the day-to-day management of the facility, follow the house rules as instructed
- Support and provide a safe and healthy working environment that complies with OSH requirements
- Assist Fresh Start Recovery Program medical and allied health staff by providing supervision and ongoing support for residents, including AOD interventions when required
- Maintain close liaison and take direction from the line manager, Fresh Start doctors, nurses, and other clinicians
- Provide logistics support to ensure residents attend their scheduled appointments and prison pick-ups
- Store client’s medications securely, and only release medicines by the doctor’s instructions
- Supervise the residents’ cleaning of the facility and ensure that all work is completed
- Provide domestic duties such as meal preparation and cleaning when required
- Develop an effective and collaborative relationship with the staff, managers, and external agencies, as appropriate
- Maintain and willingly participate in continuing professional development
- Handle and manage other ad-hoc or admin duties as required

**Ideal Skills**
- **Have**:_
- Similar experience working in either Mental Health or Recovery Centres
- An understanding and non-judgemental attitude towards people with drug use and mental health problems, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds and the Aboriginal community
- Passionate about helping people with addiction
- Transferable life/work skills along with a caring and compassionate approach
- Exceptional interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Strong computer literacy
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, a committed team player, and the ability to continuously work independently as the role dictates
- Willingness to support Fresh Start’s approach and programmes
- Respect for confidentiality
- Driver’s License
- First-aid Certificate

- Portray positive behaviours, emotional maturity, positive coping skills and resilience
