Disability Support Work involves assisting a range of clients with a variety of needs in a number of different ways.
**The Organisation**
My Supports is a well-established NDIS support provider with over 500 staff across five states. With a new CEO and ambitions to double our reach, we seek a talented Disability Support Worker to help us grow and thrive.
We are a rapidly evolving, peer-led organisation committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals, with physical, developmental or cognitive disabilities. With over 20% of our employees having a disability and over 40% having significant lived experience, we have a vision to deliver quality, individualised support through our Neighbourhood Teams, bringing local knowledge and connections. We carefully match support workers to help clients be included in and contribute to their community. **The Role**
Working in Neighbourhood Teams in your very own community, under the direction of a Neighbourhood Team Leader, the Support Worker assists and supports our clients, in line with their NDIS plan, to achieve their goals through a person-centred approach of ‘choice and control’.
**Day to day duties may include (but are not limited to)**
- Assisting clients to complete and/or develop life-skills in household duties and yard/home maintenance, such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, budgeting etc;
- Transporting clients to appointments and/or shopping for and/or with client;
- Assisting clients in building client self-image and self-confidence;
- Assisting clients in social and community participation;
- Promoting independence and well-being;
- Assisting clients with personal care and manual handling; including showering and bowel care;
- Medical administration (if qualified);
- Administration, e.g. daily journal reporting;
- Working within the NDIS guidelines and escalate relevant information to Team Leaders.
- An enthusiastic outlook, and a very open, friendly, bubbly personality;
- A compassionate and empathetic demeanour;
- Strong listening and oral communication skills and patience;
- Strong relationship-building skills;
- The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries;
- A NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Quality, Safety and You) Certificate of Completion **(essential)**;
- NDIS Workers Screening Check **(essential)**;
- Valid Working with Children Check (desirable)**;**
- A C class license, access to a reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance**;**
- Experience with Personal Care (Desirable)
- Relevant qualification in PEG feeding (Desirable)
**Location & Benefits**
The locations for work will vary depending on the client(s) and their needs within the area. It is an exciting time to join My Supports, on a casual basis.
We are currently looking to recruit Disability Support Workers in the Northam WA, Toodyay WA, York WA, and surrounding suburbs.
