**Your new role**:
As a Manager, Property Valuations, you will have a key role in the global build out of the valuation function with a primary focus on the global property portfolio. You will be responsible for managing the independent valuation process for the directly held property assets as well as driving project work and strategic initiatives across all asset classes in the investment portfolio. You will also work closely with the Real Assets teams to advise on valuation matters and governance framework.
**Key duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage the valuation of unlisted property assets on an annual, semi-annual or quarterly cycle, to ensure that AustralianSuper’s unlisted property assets are valued accurately. This includes activities such as: Reviewing draft valuation reports (in conjunction with the asset class team), Financial model checks, Verifying accuracy of inputs, Assessing the reasonableness of key assumptions and Commenting on the appropriateness of the final value.
- Work closely with other members of the Valuation Team to advise on property specific valuation matters within other asset classes (i.e. infrastructure, direct credit and private equity).
- Interact with Asset Class team, Mid Risk Team and other teams in the Fund to identify value-add opportunities, strategy direction, risk mitigation and also be involved in the acquisition and divestment processes.
- Manage valuation risk by ensuring valuation conclusions are appropriate and accompanied by robust documentation, including: Drafting reports and memos to support our valuation conclusions.
- Drive the development, refinement and implementation of appropriate valuation control processes, as they relate to property valuations, and documentation for the ongoing review of the value of unlisted property investments.
- Address issues arising out of audit findings as the relate to property valuations to ensure compliance with Fund valuation policy and standards. Ensure the Fund’s Valuation Policy and Standard is current and fit for purpose having regard to the Fund’s property investment activity and broader industry developments.
**What you’ll need**:
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Property or other relevant area.
- Post graduate qualifications/memberships - AAPI and/or MRICS.
- Experience working within an established real estate company, specialist valuation firm or an institutional/corporate investing organization in Australia.
- More than 8 years of experience in the property sector including direct involvement in undertaking valuations at an Associate Director level or above.
- Self-starter comfortable working in a team where project management of multiple tasks is required.
- Experience managing projects with several stakeholders and service providers.
- Excellent communication and presentations skills.
- Experience with the preparation of reports, analysis of information and drawing of conclusions. Experience in preparing and reviewing formal scoping documents.
