**The opportunity**

We’re all here to help deliver greater retirement outcomes for our members. Your role supports UniSuper doing this by driving increased level of engagement and governance in how data is managed. The **Data Governance Lead **will provide interim cover to lead and manage all organisation-wide data governance activities, including being a member of the UniSuper Design Council to ensure data governance policies and procedures are adhered to. You will lead the definition and establishment of a best practice enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the organisation and Business Unit level, to ensure the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs and compliance requirements.

The **Data Governance Lead **will serve as a point of escalation for data governance and risk & compliance issues and will work closely with the Head of Data Office to continuously improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory requirements and assess the potential and actual impact of breaches if these occur.

We will count on you to:

- Support the definition and drive the implementation and communication of the Data Governance strategy (including framework), and align priorities, initiatives and resources to ensure control and efficiencies of execution
- Plan and prioritise data governance initiatives, including implementing a process to ensure the tools to support Data Governance are applied consistently
- Develop and operationalise data governance policies, practices and procedures across the organisation to meet internal and external standards and compliance requirements
- Define and communicate clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities for data governance
- Assess and build capability of Executives, Data Owners, Data Stewards and other key stakeholders in data governance
- Coordinate with the Data Quality Team to define and assess the efficiency of data quality measures
- Ongoing assessment of data governance capabilities and identify any people, process & technology needs to close gaps
- Coach and mentor member of the Data Governance Team and educate other stakeholders on data governance concepts and their importance
- Lead and facilitate a community of practice that brings together data governance roles across the business
- Provide direction and support to design and implement organisational document and records management
- Mature our practices around metadata management including information classification, information asset registration and change management (CPS 234)
- Partner with our Risk function to evolve our data and analytics risk management maturity (CPG 235)
- Support the definition and implementation of best practices in reference and master data management
- Select, implement and manage appropriate tools for creating a data dictionary and business glossary
- Grow and mentor a team of data governance specialists

**About you**

We are looking for an individual who has worked in fast moving transformation environment and is comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- Define and operate a data governance framework for making decisions, managing stakeholder relationships, and identifying accountabilities.
- Expert level in **Process Management **- Develop, deploy and continually improve processes to support effective data management.
- _Advanced _level in **Data Strategy Design & Implementation**:

- Implement and maintain a data governance strategy to align organisational actions, plans, and resources with data management objectives.
- _Advanced _level in **Innovation**:

- Identify, prioritise, explore and implement processes, tools, practices and emerging technologies to drive innovation in the data community.
- _Advanced _level in **Demand Management**:

- Analyse and proactively manage business demand for new projects, services or modifications to existing data services provided by the Data Office.
- _Advanced _level in **Stakeholder Management**:

- Achieve a proactive partnership relationship and influence stakeholder attitudes, decisions and actions for mutual benefit.

Besides, you will have strong experience with implementing or leading a team to implement enterprise Data Management practices and Data Governance Frameworks and experience in data related regulatory requirements, including but not limited to CPS 234, CPG 235 per APR
