**This opportunity**
The Portfolio Manager purpose is to work with Delivery Leadership to manage the intake of ideas/work, ensure there is strategic and standardised supporting information on these initiatives and support ongoing prioritisation. The role will provide visibility of all demand into and out of the portfolio, aligning estimation, prioritisation, and funding, as well as supporting successful delivery of initiatives by highlighting forecasted dependencies and risks.
The Portfolio Manager will provide strategic recommendations to the Head of Delivery and IT Leadership and guarantee alignment with the Corporate PMO as well as other portfolios, in line with our long-term company strategy.
They are the go-to people for IT leadership and business stakeholders to give a planning/forward-looking view of the portfolio and work closely with the Project and Program Managers within their portfolio to maintain a consistent portfolio process.
**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with Spring & Planning Office to manage the flow of initiatives through the appropriate planning forums to create the portfolio roadmap
- Establish and run the Spring sizing sessions (to determine IT delivery estimations) & planning quarterly sessions ensuring all preparation is done in advance and that the sessions are productive
- Establish the appropriate meeting cadence with IT leadership and key stakeholders
- Manage the Portfolio of work in a coordinated fashion to achieve clearly defined strategic objectives and associated benefits as defined by IT Delivery leadership and as agreed through the planning process
- Responsibility for Portfolio investment budget - provide ongoing visibility of cost of permanent headcount, contractors, outsourcing partners and operational tools and services and recommend strategic actions to Senior Management
- Monitor and report Portfolio status, progress reports and recommend any corrective actions to be taken to the Head of Delivery
- Plan and monitor the Portfolio’s overall progress; resolve any cross-team issues and implement corrective action with the Program Manager as appropriate (Issues management and analysis)
- Manage dependencies and interfaces between different Programs and other Delivery portfolios.
- Provide regular Portfolio-level updates on initiatives’ status
- Provide effective stakeholder management through appropriate forums and ensure there is full transparency in the process
- Translate business strategy into Portfolio prioritisation, funding and resource planning and drive alignment of the IT roadmap.
- Work closely with and manage the 3rd party deliverables for complex projects as required, resolving any internal and external resource issues that may impact on the timeline
- Coach and mentor the team, developing talent and fostering an environment of delivery with quality.

- Be familiar with policies and procedures, as well as completing any associated training, as communicated, or made available on the intranet and our learning systems.
**Knowledge and experience**
- A minimum of 12 years’ experience in Project delivery including at least 5 years as Program / Portfolio management using leading methodologies and processes
- Experience of managing multiple parties including Senior Project Managers and 3rd party vendors on high profile and technologically innovative enterprise solutions
- Ability to manage large teams across multiple sites and create a sense of teamwork by pulling together the different members of the programme teams who may be unrelated and dissimilar
