**About the role**

We are in search of an energetic and experienced Head of HSE & Operational Audit to become part of our team. Reporting to the General Manager Internal Audit, this leadership role is critical in delivering audit projects focused on health, safety, sustainability, and environmental risks. A key part of this role will also be delivering audits that support the delivery of Origin’s key capital/major projects. The role ensures that Internal Audit adds value and improves Origin's operations by providing independent and objective assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk, and control systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Developing and delivering an annual risk-based Internal Audit Plan focussed on health, safety, sustainability, and environmental risks, including regular progress reporting.
- Implementing and continuously improving our internal audit methodology, incorporating advanced techniques such as AI, data analytics, and LEAN principles.
- Provide Providing high-quality, independent, and objective assurance to key stakeholders, recommending value-adding, commercial, and achievable actions.
- Leading and participating in audit assignments, ensuring effective scope development, resource allocation, and concise reporting.
- Managing and developing a team of internal audit professionals, fostering a supportive and high-performance work environment.
- Liaising with external auditors and managing co-sourced supplier relationships to ensure understand and advise on up-to-date industry and better practices.
- Driving strategic transformation initiatives within the audit team and across Origin, where required.

**What will you bring?**

You will be a proactive, strategic leader with a passion for health, safety, and environmental auditing. You will have a proven track record with large, multi-location listed corporations at a Board and Executive management level. With a passion for leading and developing your people. You will also demonstrate:

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HSE and/or operational audit and/or assurance roles, within senior management positions.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., Engineering, OH&S, Chartered Accountant/CPA).
- Strong knowledge of operational internal audits, HSE risk management, and major/capital projects.
- Proven ability to manage teams of auditors and concurrent projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- An aptitude for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and influencing change.
- A willingness to travel for short periods within Australia to deliver assurance needs.

Desirable:

- Energy, Utilities, Retail, Financial Services, Industrial Manufacturing or Mining industry experience
- Experience in operational or HSE roles.
- Experience in supporting the delivery of major/capital projects.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and risk and assurance frameworks.
