**MLC School** is seeking an inspiring and experienced **Head of Department - Languages** to lead a vibrant team of educators committed to empowering young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion—ready to shape their own futures and the world around them.

**About the Position**

As a pedagogical leader, the Head of Department - Languages will:

- Lead the development and delivery of innovative and inclusive language programs aligned with the School’s strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence and holistic development through mentoring, collaboration, and data-informed practice.
- Promote the importance of language learning in developing global citizens who are culturally aware, articulate, and confident communicators.

This role requires **expertise in modern languages**, with **experience in ancient languages (e.g., Latin or Classical Greek)** considered an advantage but not essential.

**Selection Criteria**
- Proven leadership in designing and implementing language programs that meet NESA, IB, and School reporting requirements.
- Deep content knowledge and pedagogical expertise in modern languages, with the ability to support a diverse team of language educators.
- A collaborative approach to curriculum development and teaching practice, informed by current research and student needs.
- A commitment to fostering student wellbeing and academic growth through inclusive and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to engaging with parents and carers.
- A passion for co-curricular involvement and the broader life of the School.
- Experience or interest in teaching the IB Diploma Programme is desirable.
