This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 240 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
**About the role**
We are looking for a Technical Product Marketing Manager to bridge the gap between our engineering, sales, and marketing teams. This role requires a deep understanding of our products, projects, technical capabilities, technical teams and workflows. This role will be responsible for communicating with our Sales and Marketing teams to enable the sales team, and drive go-to-market success.
The role will report to Chief Product Officer (CPO) and operate within the Product Team.
**Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations**
- Develop clear and compelling messaging that translates complex technical features into customer benefits, differentiation and value proposition.
- Regularly communicate with sales and marketing teams on the status and key updates of critical engineering projects.
- Create sales collateral, presentations, and training materials to help sales teams effectively communicate technical solutions.
- Conduct sales training sessions to ensure alignment on product positioning and messaging.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to develop and execute ‘Go-to-market' plans for new product launches.
- Write and oversee the creation of technical whitepapers, case studies, blog posts, and datasheets.
- Partner with Marketing and Design to create website content, videos, and webinars.
- Work closely with customers, partners, and industry analysts to gather insights and refine messaging.
- Act as a liaison between engineering and marketing to ensure accurate technical communication.
- Work with the product team to provide feedback based on customer and market needs.
**Qualifications, Experience and Skills**
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related field or relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in product marketing, technical marketing, or sales enablement, specifically within Defence, Aerospace, or High-technology industries
- Understanding of regulatory compliance (e.g., ACMA, FCC, ITAR, FAR, DFARS, DEC) is beneficial
- Familiarity with military technology, defence software solutions, cybersecurity, or defence communications systems.
- Ability to translate complex military and defence technology concepts into clear messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, sales teams, government agencies, and defence contractors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing white papers, RFP responses, and defence-related technical documentation.
- Background in software engineering, embedded systems, or defence-related product management.
