**The Position**

We are seeking an experienced, outcomes-focussed Assistant Director to join our Science for Management section. You will lead a small team to provide a key enabling service to marine park managers and government more broadly through the development of tools, systems and processes to support effective and innovative Reef management decision making. This position will work closely with Reef Authority staff, management partners and stakeholders to scope, coordinate and progress decision support initiatives that contribute to the health and resilience of the Reef (primarily through the Reef 2050 Integrated Monitoring and Reporting Program).

You will have excellent leadership, strategic thinking and engagement skills. A sound grasp of science and the ability to consider, distil and communicate complex information is essential. Ideally these skills will be backed up with experience in decision support processes and an understanding of protected area management.

This position will also coordinate and provide high-level professional advice to Senior Management on ecosystem resilience, key risks to the Reef and identify opportunities to advance management decision processes. This person will show initiative to seek out and identify new and emerging opportunities and innovations to support Reef management, identify priorities, and follow through with tangible deliverables for management.

Please note that locations for the preferred applicant are either Townsville, QLD, Cairns, QLD or Canberra, ACT. Other locations may be considered for up to 2 years in accordance with Reef Authority policy. Please speak to the contact officer for further details.
