**About the role**:
A vacancy exists in the Older People’s Mental Health Service at St Joseph’s Hospital in Auburn, for a highly motivated senior clinician with appropriate knowledge and skills, to join our friendly and supportive team.
St Joseph's Hospital is a public hospital of St Vincent's Health Australia. St Joseph’s has a proud tradition of more than 100 years of providing quality health care in a compassionate and highly personalised atmosphere. The hospital provides inpatient, outpatient and community service, and is a centre of excellence in rehabilitation, mental health for older people, Huntington Disease and palliative care.
Applications are invited from appropriately qualified medical specialists for appointment to the role of Clinical Director Older People’s Mental Health Service at St Joseph’s Hospital, which is part of the St Vincent’s Health Network. The Clinical Director role offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated clinician to lead a service that provides valuable mental health services to the Western Sydney population.
The Clinical Director is responsible and accountable for the medical leadership and management of the service and works in close collaboration with Western Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Services and St Vincent’s Health Network. The service delivers care across a range of services predominantly focusing on an 11 bed older person’s mental health inpatient and providing consultation services to the four-bed Huntington’s Disease Unit and general wards of St Joseph’s Hospital. The role will lead the medical workforce, including both senior and junior medical staff, across these services and be responsible for participating and providing a speciality on-call roster to the Hospital.
The Clinical Director will ensure excellence in clinical governance, patient safe and quality, patient experience and outcomes and deliver against key performance indicators for St Vincent’s Health Network. In the achievement of these objectives, the Clinical Director will work closely with other medical, nursing, allied health and ancillary staff within the service and across the organisation, providing a model for behaviour that fosters collaboration and teamwork.

**Selection Criteria**
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
- Hold specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and RANZCP Certificate of Advanced Training in Psychiatry of Old Age (or equivalent qualification).
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Psychiatry of Old Age (including electroconvulsive therapy) commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.
- Knowledge and commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation.
- Demonstrated management ability in clinical service planning and in the provision of a patient
- focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost-effective clinical service.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and improve strategies around patient safety, patient flow, length of stay, continuity of care, clinical variation and waiting times for treatment (where appropriate).
