**About the role**

Are you passionate about transforming our community spaces and elevating public environments? We are seeking a proven leader with a strategic mindset and a passion for community focused planning to lead the strategic planning and management of parks, natural areas, open spaces and public domain. This is your opportunity to shape vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive community spaces across the Inner West. You will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative strategies, master plans, and policies that enhance social, recreational, and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring equitable access for all user groups.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Provide strategic leadership in the planning, design, and management of parks, natural areas, open spaces and public domain.
- Develop and implement strategies, master plans, and policies to enhance public spaces.
- Lead community engagement initiatives to balance stakeholder needs and drive excellence in design thinking.
- Ensure effective management of parks and public domain planning, focusing on community responsiveness.
- Oversee project planning, including scoping, cost estimates, business case preparation, and concept feasibility design.
- Ensure project documentation meets relevant standards, codes, and legislative requirements.
- Promote sustainable design solutions and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
- Develop policies governing park users and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
- Elevate the customer experience with attentive, responsive service for both internal teams and external community stakeholders.
- Support digital innovation and cyber security initiatives to advance efficient service delivery, and advocate on behalf of the parks in engagement with government agencies and utilities

**Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning and/or significant senior-level industry experience in parks, open space, or public domain planning
- Significant experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing planning policies, strategies, masterplans, and concept designs for parks, public domains, and recreation areas
- Practical experience in the investigation, evaluation, design and specification of capital works infrastructure to relevant industry standards, codes and legislation
- Demonstrated financial, procurement, and budget management experience
- Strong understanding of frameworks such as the Crown Lands Act and Local Government Act relevant to parks and public domain management
- Experience leading managing a customer-focused team with members across a range of disciplines - to achieve outcomes and foster innovative thinking
- Demonstrated project management skills with the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Understanding of or experience with the Australian Business Excellence framework or experience in development and execution of improvement initiatives or continuous improvement Experience
- Understanding and commitment to equity and diversity principles, work health and safety, ethical practice and acting with probity at all times
- Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
