**The opportunity**
An exciting opportunity exists for a entry-level Rail Clerk to join our team and work out of our West Melbourne facility.
The entry-level role of Rail Clerk is to be responsible for both the empty/import containers into Appleton Rail and also in assisting with any yard inquires. Making sure to meet both customer and business requirement and to ensure a timely manner of their delivery.
**The Rail Clerk will be responsible for**:
- Processing containers into the yard and ensure they are given the right stickers and sent to the correct locations. Ensure data is updated in Maximus.
- Thoroughly checking empty arrivals with container chain to ensure accurate information is given and data entry input.
- Maintaining ‘De-Hires’ are updated and completed on a day to day basis. Ensure dehires to ACFS empty parks are fully utilized.
- Ensure reefer temperature monitoring checks are done on a daily basis and reports / systems are updated accordingly.
- Liaising with the reach stacker/twin pick drivers with any inquiries in regards to container yard movements.
- Liaising with customers to assist with their inquiries.
- General clerical duties including answering of phone calls as required or directed by management, ensure all data for container movements is properly recorded and maintained.
- Provide assistance to team members with work requirements where necessary.
- Assist management with requests / projects with work within your capabilities.
- To comply with all applicable legislation, regulations, Australian Standards and other statutory or regulatory guidelines of which employees are informed by ACFS Port Logistics. This includes co-operation with authorised safety officers.
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- High School Certificate or equivalent
- A high level of computer literacy, and in particular Microsoft Word and Excel
- Sound working knowledge of Management and Distribution systems which includes: Maximus System and Third Party Systems 1stop
- Sound Park experience and skills with an ability to identify and remedy operational inefficiencies and service problems
- Excellent personal standards of honesty, integrity, reliability and professionalism
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with meticulous attention to detail
- Be able to work both independently and in a small team
