Salary Range: $79,764 - $85,074 + Attractive Superannuation

The Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG), within the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), maintains war cemeteries and individual war graves in Australia and the region and commemorates eligible veterans who died post-war and whose deaths were caused by their war service.

**Duties**
- Support the Director - War Graves, through the provision of excellent service delivery and the continual improvement of OAWG (including CWGC) and DVA business processes and the ongoing development and maintenance of IT systems such as, but not limited to the War Graves System
- Act as a central point of contact for veterans, bereaved families and other responsible person, guiding them through the process of official commemoration
- Interpret policy and provide accurate, sensitive and efficient advice and guidance to veterans and their families by telephone and online, enabling the provision of official commemoration for eligible Australian veterans and Australian and Commonwealth war dead
- Have (or are able to quickly develop) an understanding the work of cemetery and crematoria in all Australian State and territories
- Establish and maintain a high level of stakeholder engagement with state and territory Cemeteries and Crematoria, OAWG’s contracted service providers and staff ensuring that official commemoration is achieved within Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG), and Commonwealth War Graves (CWGC) standards, state and territory and individual cemetery and crematorium requirements (where possible)
- Represent the Office of Australian War Graves internally and externally, fostering and contributing to positive working relationships and a collegiate work environment; understanding and accommodating a range of different points of view and support colleagues to get the best results for the team
- Document and report on all processes undertaken in support of the team’s activities within PDMS, HP Content and the War Graves System including financial transactions, as outlined in the AAI and the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

**Notes**

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
