Role Details

Responding to calls for assistance and communicating effectively in emergency situations.

Undertaking patrols of designated areas to ensure a safe and secure environment for all people utilising services, including lock/unlock activities, welfare checks, and staff escorts as required.
Conducting inspections to verify secure perimeters and controlled areas, checking for breaches, and performing lighting and hazard reduction inspections.
Performing vehicle patrols and providing security support to CHQ Health Service facilities.
Incident reporting, security shift logs, and maintenance issue reporting.
Engaging proactively with patients, visitors and staff to build a positive safety culture and enhance the consumer experience through respectful interpersonal interactions.
Reporting observed criminal activity to relevant stakeholders and escalating to the Queensland Police Service (QPS) where required.
Identifying and implementing safe strategies for managing patients who present a risk of violence.
Utilising supportive, non-threatening communication and verbal de-escalation techniques to assist clinical staff in managing aggressive incidents.
Liaising with clinical and operational stakeholder groups to ensure effective consultation in the development of support and/or intervention strategies, and participating in briefings and debriefings.
Assisting in locating missing patients, performing access control duties (entry and egress monitoring), and maintaining key management systems.
Responding to fire alarms, duress alarms, building alarm systems, and emergency codes.
Contributing to traffic and smoking management practices.
Performing control room duties, completing isolations via fire indicator panels, fire inspection and duress/security system audits.
Completing safety officer responsibilities for helicopter arrivals and departures, and maintaining the helicopter landing site (HLS).
