An opportunity exists to join our high performing Service team. The role has a strong focus on ensuring quality technical service deliverables are met for a wide range of GEA technologies in our Separation and Flow Technologies Division. This encompasses process engineering components and machines, including separators, decanters, homogenizers, valves and pumps. These technologies are at the very heart of many food, beverage and pharmaceutical production processes that consumers enjoy and rely on.
- Your responsibilities and tasks:

- Travel to customers sites throughout Australia to:
1. Undertake service maintenance planned and unplanned, including remedial or rectification works.

2. Actively engage in preventative maintenance visits, addressing breakdowns

3. Perform disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and reassembly of highly specialised equipment, such as centrifuges, decanters and pumps.
- Performing site trouble shooting with remote support, including actively listening to customers feedback and supporting them to resolve technical issues.
- Providing on-call support outside regular hours on a rotational basis within your team.
- Preparing any required job-related reports
- Focusing on continuous improvement, providing feedback, solutions, and initiatives to all key stakeholders.
- Maintaining and improving customer relationships to foster collaboration, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Demonstrating and appreciating safety for self and others in all actions and activities and maintain a general understanding of the health and safety legislation.

What a typical week might look like as a Service Technician at GEA:

- Kickstart your week every Monday where you may take on a local assignment around Melbourne, a regional job across Victoria, or interstate throughout Australia. Arriving at each customer site marks the beginning of your day, where you’ll begin methodically diagnosing issues and dismantling equipment.
- After 8-10 hours, it's time to unwind at a nearby accommodation, all expenses covered. Rest up for another day of work ahead. A standard service typically spans 3-4 days at a customer’s site.
- Upon completion, return to Melbourne where you have the flexibility to work remotely or join us at our office near Melbourne Airport. We prioritise work-life balance, ensuring you're home for the weekend.
- While schedules may vary to meet customer needs, be assured that all your time, including travel, is compensated accordingly. Plus overtime is rewarded for any additional hours worked each day.
- Typically it takes 1-2 years to be fully trained in our specialised equipment so you’ll be provided with comprehensive training to ensure your success.

Your profile and qualifications:

- Mechanical Engineering Trade qualification (i.e. fitter / turner or similar) is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a mechanical discipline preferably with experience in the food production industry with expertise in, gears, pumps, and rotational equipment.
- Strong work ethic coupled with a high attention to detail
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret and follow service and parts manuals and drawings
- Quality and pride of workmanship
- A commitment to maintaining high safety standards
- Outstanding customer service and ability to adjust your style based on the needs of the customer
- Ability to work independently, unsupervised & as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A current driver’s license
