Female Support Worker for Male Client in Victoria

Are you a Support Worker who loves working with an old fashioned, Aussie bloke? Someone who loves a bit of banter, and a bit of 'to and fro'?

This 73-year-old gentleman is a pretty outgoing person who is up before the birds requiring personal care supports at 5am so he can make his way to his favourite café for a bite of breakfast and a bit of socialising. Supports will be required again at 11.30am to 3pm to assist with personal assistance and domestic tasks, and then again at night to assist with getting ready for bed. You won't be required to do all the shifts, but this gives you an idea on the shifts on offer.

With all of this noted, this Client self identifies as a “part quad” who requires personal care supports, domestic assistance, bowel and bladder care and assistance with hoisting. He has an acquired brain injury which can affect his mood regulation and verbal appropriateness, however with a bit of humour and banter he can generally be redirected quickly.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Support Worker who has a degree of resilience and can use humour appropriately to change an escalating situation. Bowel and bladder care, and hoisting experience are favourable skills that would put you in good stead to be part of this person’s support team.

Your key responsibilities & accountabilities  

To deliver high quality support to our Clients in the capacity they require, the exact way they would like it delivered 

Communicate effectively and collaborate for our Clients' needs with our Clients, team & Support Specialist 

Understand, follow instructions, and be responsive to our Clients needs 

Provide support to our Clients as required 

Have good rapport building skills and a gentle, encouraging manner 

Be reliable and flexible to fill shifts when required 

Have an interest in building a respectful relationship with our Clients 

To support our Clients to achieve their NDIS Goals 

To be Successful you must  

Resonate with the role description above 

Hold CPR and first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain) 

Hold NDIS worker screening or yellow card (or willingness to obtain) 

Hold or be willing to obtain a blue card 

Hold Certificate III in disability or related fields (or willingness to obtain
- preferred) 

Have evidence of eligibility and right to work in Australia 

Have a genuine desire to positively change people's lives 

Manual handling experience required
