The Darling Downs South West region is an area on the western slope of the Great Dividing Range in Queensland and covers an impressive 480,000km2 of land.
Toowoomba is the largest city in the region, which is approximately 90 minutes drive west of Brisbane. Unique country towns are part of our diverse region and are a focus of support for the Head of Department (Curriculum) role. The position supports rural and remote schools with approved kindergarten programs, such as Proston, Durong South, Bell and Talwood. About the Role
As the Head of Department (Curriculum) you will work as part of the State Delivered Kindergarten team in Darling Downs South West Region to lead the following key tasks in schools with approved kindergarten programs:

- Lead kindergarten curriculum in the context of the whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all children in the early years.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life, with a focus on all children having access to quality inclusive kindergarten programs.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.

This role fulfills the Department of Education's legislative obligations to provide access to a qualified early childhood teacher for relevant schools with approved kindergarten programs.While this position is located at Newtown State School, the role travels to schools with kindergarten across the region. The role is supervised and supported by both the base school Principal and the Director for Partnerships and Programs in DDSW Regional Office.
