As the Safety Compliance Officer, you would primarily be responsible for driving the proactive implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental culture, strategy, plan and performance in line with Mack Civil strategies and the project delivery programs.
Key areas:
- Manage the implementation and delivery of site training to ensure compliance with operating procedures, organisational and legislative requirements
- Ensure all hazards and risks are identified, evaluated, and controlled in accordance with Mack Civil policies and procedures
- Contribute to the provision of a safe and healthy workplace by developing and maintaining site plans, procedures and processes incorporating the requirements of all Mack Civil policies and procedures
- Report and participate in incident investigations to determine the root cause and contributing factors using Incident Cause Analysis Methodology (ICAM)
- Develop action plans that address identified key risks associated with the area of management responsibility
- Coordinate injury and workers compensation claims management matters, early intervention, and the rehabilitation of injured workers and their return-to-work requirements.
- Ongoing coordination and liaison with external certification bodies.
- Provision of appropriate management information reports and provide feedback to management and employees on HSEQ matters to ensure they are kept informed.
- Conduct HSEQ inductions for all new employees.
- Identify employee HSEQ development and training needs and coordinate/facilitate internal and external training programs.
Key challenges
- Ensure that Mack Civil maintains its OHS Management AS/NZS 45001; Environmental Management ISO 14001 and Quality Management ISO 9001 accreditations.
- Develop and facilitate a WHS culture of 'Zero Harm' for Mack Civil, as a mature approach to a safety culture.
- To maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSEQ contemporary practices, trends, developments, and tools.
Essential requirements
- Qualifications in either Work Health and Safety; Quality Health Safety and Environment or other related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience.
- Experience in working with ISO accredited systems.
- Experience in working with integrated management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience dealing with a variety of stakeholders including executive, management, staff, and external stakeholders.
- SafeWork NSW accredited Work Health and Safety (WHS) General Induction for Construction Work in NSW.
- Demonstrated sound understanding and commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Work Health and Safety (WHS), and Cultural Diversity principles.
- Current NSW Class C Driver's license.
