**What are we looking for?
WooliesX is seeking an experienced Technology Lead to lead the cross-functional Search squad for our business. The Tech Lead will partner closely with the Search Product Manager to develop the technical strategy and development roadmap to deliver customer and business outcomes. Leading a large team of engineers, QA/test engineers, designers and BAs, this role is charged with creating a leading search service to power Australia’s leading supermarket with significant growth plans.

As a Technical Lead on our Search team, you need to ambitiously drive our revenue outcomes. You will provide strategic technical guidance to proactively improve group search capability, performance, reliability, security and cost-effectiveness of customers’ solutions using industry best practices.

You’re curious and empathetic, with an eye for the bigger picture. You deal with complexity by collaborating with colleagues, listening to customers, testing ideas and continuously learning. You take ownership for what you create.

- You’re involved in the Software Engineering community. You enjoy attending meetups, conferences, having a blog or a GitHub portfolio.
- You want to be part of a Digital Transformation and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
- Not afraid to speak up in cross-squad and tribe conversations about engineering best practices.

You don’t have to have worked in retail or with a big corporation, but you might have. Or you may have invested your talent in startups, digital SMEs or management consultancies. What you do need is proven track recording of leading innovative technology teams and contributing to a team to deliver great outcomes.

**Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Head of Technology and Head of Product to develop the future vision for search experience across the Woolworths Group
- Lead on technical delivery of the squad, from designing solutions to deploying them and ensuring correct operation.
- Develop high quality, scalable and performant solutions.
- Work collaboratively with Product Managers, designers, BAs, QAs and other Engineers.
- Identify talent, assist in recruiting and onboarding new engineers and build strong teams.
- Coach, mentor and help the engineers in the team to improve their skills.
- Coordinate with other Tech Leads and the architecture team on best practice and ensure all squads are aligned.
- Determine root cause for the most complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
