**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a National Feral Deer Coordinator to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the role is to increase the participation of agencies, organisations, landholders and communities in the coordinated control of feral deer through a broad national approach. The role also leads the implementation of the The Plan - National Feral Deer Action Plan 2023-28, by influencing and motivating relevant stakeholder groups, and driving initiatives that others will adopt and implement further. Through this work the Coordinator will work with relevant stakeholders to promote best practice community-based or agency-led control of feral deer, use diverse communication approaches to raising awareness of feral deer issues, and support program leads to overcome barriers to achieving effective feral deer control. The role is based at the University of Adelaide Waite campus but will require extensive travel, across Australia.

The role contributes delivering the agency’s priorities including:

- Reset the operating environment
- Sustain the resource

The role contributes to delivering coordinated, strategic management of feral deer. The role sits within the Invasive Species Unit, which provides policy and technical advice and support to regulatory activities, collaborates in research on pest control techniques, fosters surveillance and early intervention systems and supports pest awareness and education activities.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel will be required
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
- Desirable Qualifications: An appropriate Degree in Science, Natural Resource Management or equivalent

**Remuneration**

ASO6 - $98,478 min - $104,165 max per annum, plus superannuation
