The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Pest Animal Management Support Officer to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
The primary purpose of the role is to support pest animal programs that focus on coordinated control of vertebrate pest animal impacts for the protection of environmental, agricultural and social assets.
The role supports priority actions of pest animal programs, such as the National Feral Deer Action Plan, and other State-wide priority projects. The role helps promote best practice, community awareness, participation and facilitation of vertebrate pest animal control in environmental and agricultural management programs.
The role contributes to delivering the agency's priorities including:
- Managing adverse events effectively and helping primary industries and communities improve preparedness, resilience and recover well
- Build partnerships with industry, stakeholders, research organisations and regional communities
- Growing regions by supporting key regional development drivers and growing opportunities available to our regional communities
The role contributes to delivering Biosecurity objectives by:
- Managing economic, social and environmental impacts of pests and diseases
- Government, industry and the community working together to enhance biosecurity

Special Conditions
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- Opportunity up to December 2027.
- Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week.
Requirements
- Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel will be required
- You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations
Qualifications
Essential:
- An appropriate Degree in Science, Natural Resource Management or equivalent for PO2 position
Remuneration
ASO5 - $85,790 min - $95,413 max per annum, plus superannuation
PO2 - $88,255 min - $97,667 max per annum, plus superannuation
