**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a Long-Term Trials Coordinator to be part of the South Australian Research and Development Institute within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the Long-Term Trials Coordinator role is to coordinate and undertake a range of project planning and administration functions and services to assist with the delivery of an Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund (FDF) Long-Term Trials project as part of the FDF Drought Resilience Farming Practices Program.

The role facilitates and assists in the co-design and delivery of the FDF Long-Term Trial project based in South Australia, as a collaborative initiative led by Flinders University and delivered by the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).

The Long-Term Trials Coordinator works collaboratively with, and provides project administrative advice and assistance to, a range of partners including growers, farming system groups, universities, government agencies, landscape boards and agribusinesses to support the development and testing of innovative on-farm strategies to increase the climate resilience of cropping, livestock and mixed farms.

The role develops and implements processes and systems to maintain regular on ground interactions with researchers and project partners at four SA Discovery Farms, located at the Minnipa Agriculture Centre (MAC), Loxton Research Centre, Struan Research Centre, and Turretfield Research Centre, in addition to 16 Innovator Sites across commercial cropping, livestock or mixed farms throughout South Australia.

This includes drafting and reviewing subcontracts, identifying issues, collating and appropriately storing data, and reporting on administrative and research activities. The Long-Term Trials Coordinator monitors, facilitates and provides expert advice to the establishment and running of the SA Discovery Farms and Innovator Sites, undertakes day-to-day liaison with project partners, and facilitates the co-design and delivery of priority long term trial activities.

The role contributes to delivering the agency’s priorities of sustaining the resources including long term trials focused on the four themes of (1) tailor made climate smart grain and feed, (2) soil improvement practices to advance soil health, (3) the use of precision livestock strategies for healthier livestock and (4) increasing landscape diversification and protecting natural capital.

The role contributes to establishing and delivering South Australian Climate Resilience Discovery Farms and Innovator Sites across the pastoral, low, medium and high rainfall zones of South Australia to develop, test, refine and deploy new scientific innovations and research trials.

**Requirements**:

- This role is to be located at the Waite Campus, Urrbrae
- Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
- Some out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel will be required.
- You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations.
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

**Desirable**:

- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture science, Environmental Science, Business Management, or equivalent relevant experience.
