**OPERATIONS CREW MEMBER - CONSTRUCTION**

**Permanent Full Time Opportunity**
**38 hour week with 9 day - fortnight**
**Salary from $51,654.72 - $59,919.60 p.a. plus superannuation**

**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking an** Operations Crew Member** to join our team at Council. This position may work on various projects as business needs require, and involves working under direct supervision assisting in a variety of manual labour tasks.

Located in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW, 1.5 hours south-west of Sydney - Wingecarribee Shire Council is working to create and** **nurture a vibrant & diverse community in harmony with the region's urban, agricultural and natural environments.

**About the Role**:
The key responsibilities of the Operations Crew Member are to meet work schedules and comply with Council’s standards of quality, cost and safety.
- Loading and unloading materials, tools and equipment and transporting to work sites.
- Erecting fencing / barricades and/or traffic control devices.
- Controlling traffic around worksites.
- Using, operating and maintaining hand tools and/or other plant and machinery.
- Collecting and removing rubble and waste material in or around or from work sites.
- Manual labouring tasks including but not limited to: sweeping, digging, shovelling, levelling, clearing, lifting and spreading of materials.
- Spreading, levelling and compacting of bitumen and other paving materials on roadways
- Pouring, spreading, smoothing and finishing of concrete for structures such as footpaths and bridges
- Promoting positive work relationships within the team, ensuring WHS for yourself and within the team

**Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated experience in construction and/or maintenance (roads and drainage).
- Demonstrated practical experience in the operation of a range of plant and machinery relevant to the field.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in manual labouring roles across a variety of projects in construction and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions within a team environment, and to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Practical understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, awareness of environmental impacts, legislation and responsibilities
- Current WHS Construction Induction White Card.
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence.

**Desirable**
- Current Traffic Controller (Old Blue Card) and/or implement Traffic Control Plans (Old Yellow Card) Ticket
- Confined space ticket
- Working near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker certification
- Level 1 Accredited Chainsaw - Trim & Crosscut Fallen Trees.
- Demonstrated experience in concrete and pipeline labouring
- First Aid certificate
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers Licence.
- Certification in Asbestos Awareness
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
