About the School
Ipswich Special School is a special school for students from Prep-Year 12, as well as an Early Childhood Development Program. We have a strong philosophical framework for all our students to access communication, literacy and numeracy at their level with a high level of engagement. A strong sense of community and working as part of a strong team is a central part of the school culture. Our school prides itself on the relationship that exists between students, parents/carers, staff and the local community.
Our school motto is 'Together We Can' and we believe it is essential to develop and maintain strong partnerships with our community and in particular parents/carers, to promote our vision 'Successful Students. Successful Futures'.
About the Role
As the Head of Department you will have responsibility for the following:
- Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.
