About the Role
As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead and manage inclusive education practices, ensuring all students receive appropriate support to succeed.
Support teachers in implementing differentiated teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning needs.
Develop and coordinate intervention programs to enhance student engagement and achievement.
Collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies to create a strong support network for students.
Provide expert guidance on curriculum adjustments, behavior support, and student well-being initiatives.
Monitor student progress, oversee data collection (including the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability), and contribute to school-wide decision-making.
Manage human, financial, and physical resources to ensure effective support programs are in place.
Champion a culture of inclusion by promoting student voice, well-being, and engagement in all aspects of school life.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
Strong leadership experience in inclusive education or student support services.
Deep understanding of inclusive practices and strategies to support diverse learners.
Proven ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and external agencies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
Data literacy skills to track student progress and inform decision-making.
Experience in case management for students requiring additional support.
Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience
Experience in a semi-rural or community-focused school setting.
Familiarity with nature play, risky play, and student engagement strategies.
Knowledge of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and positive behavior frameworks.
Ability to lead professional development for staff in inclusive education practices.
