About the role

The Head of Professional Risk is part of Opteon's Technical Services team which is responsible for: promotion of professional excellence; compliance with recognised professional standards; and valuation risk management.

The purpose of the Head of Professional Risk role is to maximise Opteon's professional risk-return within the limits of our professional risk appetite, with risk issues detected and addressed as part of risk mitigation.

The Head of Professional Risk will support the A.NZ business in maintaining Valuation Risk Management and Compliance frameworks that manage valuation quality and risk, by focusing on the below critical elements:

- Manage valuation risk through client selection and on-boarding including client evaluation and efficient process management.
- Manage internal business risk associated with new valuation instructions and quoting opportunities.
- Undertake reviews of valuation reports to identify and address areas of valuation risk.
- Provide technical advice for valuations and manage valuation risk.
- Record and implement corrective actions for any identified serious matters or non-compliance with professional standards.

About you
- Have a degree in Property (Valuation) or equivalent qualifications
- Be a member of API, NZ Property Institute or RICS
- Have appreciation or experience in identifying property risk
- Have an awareness of risk, risk measurement and risk mitigation
- Will be a champion of promoting quality and risk management for continuous upskilling of Opteon’s valuation team
- Have valuation experience, preferably across a broad range of property types/sectors
- Embrace new technology in a dynamic business
- Can work autonomously to achieve personal results but enjoy working as part of a high-performance team to achieve shared goals
