**About the directorate**

The Student Support and Specialist Programs directorate is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of state-wide services and specialist services and specialist programs to support student engagement and opportunities including Arts, Sport, Community Languages and International Programs.

The teams in Delivery Support and Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services focus on the delivery of student support services including support for students in the areas of disability, mental health and wellbeing, complex needs, as well as behaviour and attendance.

The Assisted School Travel Program provides transportation services for students with additional needs from home to school and back to ensure all students are able to access education in NSW public schools.

Student opportunities across all areas are enhanced through partnerships with industry specialists and stakeholders.

**About the role***

Provides strategic advice and support to schools on the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme as it relates to schools.

**Key Application Responses**:

- Teaching qualifications and successful teaching experience within the K-12 range.
- Demonstrated understanding of the professional standards and accreditation processes and capacity to coordinate accreditation processes with staff.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of curriculum, professional practice, policies, relevant legislation, initiatives and current research in education.
- Demonstrated capacity to analyse performance and financial data, undertake reviews, evaluate and report on findings.
- Demonstrated high level capacity to initiate, develop, evaluate and coordinate planning, monitoring and reporting practices to drive improvement.
- Proven ability to plan, implement, manage, monitor and evaluate educational programs, provisions and resources.
- Special Education qualifications and/or extensive teaching and management experience with students with disability.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
