**About the Role**
Due to sustainable growth, a rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced
**Facilities Environmental Compliance Specialist**
**to join our Strategic Facilities division, **based at our Archerfield Head Office on a
**permanent full-time** basis.

This integral and multifaceted role shall ensure high levels of environmental compliance, enabling business capability and safety across Hastings Deering and Sime Darby Industrial facility centres.

Reporting to the
- No Harm_’ commitment by providing assurance for environmental laws, regulations and permits.

The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:

- Develop environmental programs and procedures to comply with air quality, storm water, wastewater, sewage treatment, asbestos and other environmental laws, regulations and permits.
- Maintain good communications and working relations within the Business Unit, the Company, ensuring all parties are kept up to date and informed on matters requiring their involvement.
- Coordinate activities and maintenance programs to ensure reliable, efficient, economical, and effective operation of all wash bays, paint booths, waste water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants to ensure compliance
- Provide SME support and partner with cross-functional teams on projects and tasks to ensure regulatory compliance
- Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the enterprise.
- Monitor and ensure all wastewater treatment, recycled water and trade waste discharge activities follow regulated license requirements, Environmental management systems and WHS requirements
- Develop, review, update and implement operational, maintenance, safety and environmental procedures and work instructions.
- Provide sound technical information and awareness to facilitate informed decisions on plant operation and performance standards
- Provide written advice and recommendations to stakeholders on required plant upgrades, service requirements, operational procedures, and practices to ensure compliance
- Investigate instances of plant failure and noncompliance, provide reports identifying the cause, recommend remediation action and advise how to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain the integrity of electronic records and ensure compliance with site legal and other obligations

**About You**
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:

- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role within a diversified organisation
- Experience successfully implementing environmental systems
- Evidence of experience with industrial safe work procedures and practices and or workplace health and safety
- Knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of water treatment plant and processes - Filtration and chemical dosing
- Computer literacy and knowledge of relevant computer-based systems (e.g., Telemetry, SCADA etc)
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain productive relationships and negotiate and influence
- Proficient mechanical aptitude ie. Trade Qualification and/or Hydraulic or Plumbing Engineering Experience or similar discipline would be desirable
- Tertiary Qualifications in Environmental Science considered advantageous
