Research Assistant

**Part time fixed term contract for one year**
- **The project investigates universal developmental screening for preschool-aged children within Western Sydney, with the aim of supporting families to make informed and timely decisions to improve their child’s developmental outcomes.**
- **Base Salary starting from $89,755 + 17% superannuation (Pro rata)**

**About the opportunity**

The Sydney School of Health Sciences is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The university is seeking to employee a **Research Assistant**to contribute to the project Brighter Beginnings in Western Sydney Local Health District. The Australian Early Development Census identified that almost 20% of children in the first year of school were vulnerable on one or more developmental domains. Furthermore, these children are at a greater risk of poorer health, wellbeing and academic outcomes.The aim of the larger Brighter Beginnings Initiative is to support families to make informed and timely decisions, provide additional support to families in need of support and provide improved universal services to benefit all.

Through universal developmental screenings, Brighter Beginnings intends to reach families who have not otherwise engaged in health services but who require these services, having particular focus on families who may be less likely to participate in universal screening including families in areas of high socioeconomic disadvantage, communities with high cultural and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations. This role will analyse qualitative data from caregivers, Brighter Beginning Screening staff, and Early Childhood Education staff regarding the effectiveness, acceptability, and implementation of the developmental screenings.

The incumbent will be in the Susan Wakil Building on the Camperdown Campus.

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- Ensure the accurate implementation of research protocols, ensuring timely execution of research activities
- Prepare interview transcripts for analysis within NVivo or similar program
- Use qualitative methods to analyse interview data
- Prepare written summaries of research findings, appropriate for the research team and stakeholders
- Collaborate with researchers and affiliated partners to share findings and progress
- Coordinate with the team to produce quality reports,, and actively engage in compliance initiatives to uphold regulations
- Undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

**About you**
- Tertiary qualifications - In a relevant field or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- Experience in qualitative research
- Prior experience and or knowledge in allied health - pediatric health services
- Proven experience in a research-based environment
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments and drive collaborative efforts towards program goals.
