**Brain Cancer Biobanking Research Assistant**
**About the role**:

- 2-year fixed term with possible extension
- Full time (38 hours per week)
- Based at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Camperdown

**Key responsibilities and activities**:

- Engage with neurosurgeons and neuropathologists to facilitate fresh tumour tissue banking.
- Provide practical support for developing exciting new ex vivo brain cancer experimental models, including human brain organoids and 3D-bioprinting.
- Establish a new database to house clinical information and biospecimen data.
- Harmonise biospecimen and clinical data collections between hospital sites.
- Catalogue existing brain tumour tissue archives, including high resolution slide scanning and tissue microarrays.
- A university degree in science, applied science, health or a health-related discipline.
- Experience working in a laboratory/research environment including the routine handling, storage and retrieval of biological samples (including bloods and tissues), and tissue culture.
- High level computer skills, including proven experience with MS Excel, statistics packages and the use of databases.
- Demonstrated proficiency with REDCap database development and management will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality and privacy requirements
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Proven strong organisational skills and ability to communicate with professionals across multiple disciplines
- Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
- Be flexible in terms of working hours, which may occasionally fall outside business hours
