**About the role**
The Communications Officer will be a resilient, deadline driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced multifaceted role in a dynamic organisation. This role creates, coordinates, develops and delivers on communications plans to grow engagement and awareness of all things Melba. Working in a fast-paced environment, this role oversees the development and distribution of communications that make Melba stand out from the crowd. They will be a custodian of the Melba tone of voice and take ownership of a range of different channels and products to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders. This role will provide reporting and analysis of communications activity to facilitate continuous improvement.
**What you’ll be doing (key accountabilities)**
- Write, produce and distribute engaging content across a variety of channels including but not limited to regular newsletters, social media, intranet, website scripts and marketing collateral.
- Produce, maintain and monitor intranet and website content.
- Develop, communicate and maintain Melba’s communications and content calendars.
- Plan, create and prepare content for social media marketing campaigns and posts aligned with strategic objectives.
- Develop SEO driven written and visual content targeted to our stakeholders and specific audiences identified in internal communications plans.
- Manage multiple competing deadlines and projects concurrently including BAU and ad hoc in a fast-paced environment.
- Deliver Melba stories, including production of videos and other materials to accompany our annual report, including scripting and interviewing for short videos for social and internal communications.
- Produce engaging digital content, including but not limited to images, banners, gifs, videos, podcasts, and animations, that help to promote Melba’s overall brand story
- Liaise with external providers to coordinate content as appropriate.
- Work with the marketing team to jointly monitor, evaluate and report on social media delivery and engagement.
- Manage the community engagement of social media including comments and direct messages.
- Review, analyse and report on all communications channels with a view to continually improve.
**Your background (skills and attributes)**
- Degree in communications, journalism, or a similar qualification.
- Experience in a communications role within a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Canva and other in-house graphic design tools.
- Familiarity with SEM Rush, Jungle Mail, Sprout Social, and Google Analytics (advantageous).
- Highly organised with advanced time management skills, including the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work autonomously.
- Proven expertise in writing, editing, and storytelling across platforms for diverse audiences, with a focus on engagement and meeting strict deadlines.
- Skilled in creating content that enhances SEO and achieves digital communication objectives.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines.
- Experience and expertise in editing, proofreading, and content design.
- Excellent computer literacy and digital communication skills.
- Ability to write according to Plain English and Easy English principles (advantageous).
- Experience in the disability and/or community services sector (advantageous).
