The Team Leader, Personnel Security requires effective organisational and administrative skills to manage a small team of Security Officers, delivering Personnel Security functions across Treasury, and several external agencies, in line with legislative frameworks and departmental processes.

The role reports to the Assistant Director Personnel Security & Governance and sits in the Protective Security Unit.

With mínimal supervision the Team Leader will be required to manage the day-to-day operations of the Personnel Security team, including:

- Requests for Security Employment Checks and Security Clearances
- Liaison with the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) and other external stakeholders
- Development of and adherence to internal processes and policies, and compliance with Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
- Building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit
- Management of escalations and complex Security Clearance cases
- Undertaking internal vetting risk assessments
- Assisting in the coordination and flow of communications and internal messaging within local work areas, and broader department
- Contract management including facilitating accounts payable
- Assist with security governance reporting requirements
- Manage security classified and sensitive personal information in accordance with PSPF
- Contribute to the work of the Branch including project work, as required.

**Required Experience**
- prioritise work and ensure completion of tasks within set timeframes,
- present complex information in plain English through well-structured reports and presentations,
- ability to share and exchange information and resources in an appropriate and tailored manner,
- develop positive working relationships and respond to the changing needs and priorities of the Department,
- manage small teams and supervise staff, including training, providing guidance and mentoring team members.

**Desirable Qualifications/Experience**

Understanding of, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of:

- the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework
- departmental policies, procedures, and associated business practices
- procurement processes, including knowledge of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

A formal qualification in vetting is highly desirable.
