A full-time permanent Payroll Governance and Compliance Manager position has become available within the AGL Payroll team. Based in Sydney, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining governance, structures, and processes to support payroll and time & attendance best practice.

Key to success will be your exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to easily develop and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholders across all levels. In addition, a full understanding of up-to-date employment law and legislation related to payroll, a focus on customer-centricity, business agility and risk management.

What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will:

- Nurture stakeholder relationships to understand diverse business needs across the enterprise
- Support Payroll Managers with escalated payroll compliance queries
- Keep up to date with best practice by linking with networks and benchmarking activities to drive innovation
- Provide 1st level system support to business users to ensure SLAs for daily processing activities, query resolution and incident management are fully met, including change control and deployment activities
- Provide a center of excellence for payroll and time & attendance governance activities, including management of the Payroll Governance Forum and RACM (Risk & Control Matrix) to ensure system governance, risk and compliance are appropriately documented
- Monitor open work orders and incidents, including the prioritization for closure with Payroll team, stakeholders, SMEs, and ADP
- Ensure system and process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures and controls are periodically reviewed, maintained, easy to locate and are accessible
- Support the Head of Payroll with internal and external audit requirements related to payroll processes and outputs, and assist in delivering action items to address findings

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Extensive experience across payroll governance and compliance
- Strong relationship management with effective business partnering and influencing across complex and geographically dispersed organisational and management structures
- Confident and professional communicator at all levels, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated experience in designing governance and compliance frameworks and monitoring process controls
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Broad experience working within a payroll, time & attendance/interpretation, or industrial relations environment
- Excellent numeric and analytical skills, including Excel and Power BI based reporting skills, and a proven ability to extract data and translate into meaningful actions
- Experienced in designing, reviewing, and updating procedural documentation
- Degree in Commerce, HR or related discipline preferred
- Six Sigma / Lean / Agile certification preferred
- Quality Assurance/Compliance/Risk background preferred but not essential
