ABOUT THE ROLE OF A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER
Becoming a Correction Officer, doesn't require previous correctional experience. As a Trainee Correctional Officer, you will be guided through an 8 week program designed to assist you in developing the understand and skills needed to contribute to the safe, secure and humain containment of prisoners. Your duties will include:
Maintaining the safety, security and good order of the prison, all staff, partners, visitors, offenders and the facility itself
Supervision of offenders
Case Management - You will also be responsible for contributing to and monitoring / reporting on prisoner rehabilitation activities, encouraging prisoners to establish goals for themselves and to begin engaging in positive behavioural change
Conducting daily searches and musters
Locating and removing illegal and restricted substances whilst undertaking searches
Undertaking all custody related administrative duties
Maintaining confidentiality
Managing inductions and transfers of prisoners
Assisting and supervising visitations
Writing comprehensive reports and continually upholding the safety and security of all persons both within the prison and the prison itself

You must have 3 doses of the COVID-19 (triple vaccinated) to be able to complete the recruitment process for this role, or be willing to obtain in the early stages of the process.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
G4S runs an thorough recuitment process for this role, to give you as much exposure and understanding of the position as possible. You will go through a staged process and will be fully guided by our Talent Acquisition team. This includes:
An online, self-paced assessment
Group information session onsite at Port Phillip Prison
A face-to-face formal interview onsite at Port Phillip Prison

**Compliance checks including**: fingerprints and police check, physical and psychological medical checks and previous employment checks

You will be asked through this process to provide information on discolsable outcomes, prior employment, residential history for the purposes of clearance thorugh Corrections Victoria.
