Laboratory Manager - Laboratory Manager

Our client is one of the largest private hospital pathology businesses, servicing more than 90 private and public hospitals and employ more 3,800 people across Australia. They are looking for a Laboratory Manager to manage their regional laboratory based in central Adelaide - South Australia.

**About the Role**
The role is based at our clients Core Laboratory in South Adelaide.

The Laboratory operating hours are

Monday to Friday
**7:30am-11:30pm**
Weekends
**8:30am-11:30pm**

Your duties and responsibilities include:

- Organise and supervise a team of 7 laboratory scientists & 15 x Laboratory Assistance which perform a range of laboratory tests within a multi-disciplinary setting (Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation, Stat Micro, Transfusion)
- 3 x Grade 2 scientists will each be supervising the Microbiology, Biochemistry and Haem/Transfusion areas.

- flow to meet client’s requirements
- Ensure results are released with acceptable turn around times (TAT)
- Liaise with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal results
- Assist clients with test selection and result interpretation in conjunction with the central laboratory staff
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained in optimal condition and working order, all scheduled routine maintenance is performed and any unscheduled maintenance is performed as required
- Evaluate and introduce new methods, reagent test kits and instrumentation when necessary in conjunction with the appropriate central laboratory Department Head
- Review and update all Laboratory documentation as required
- This role is also responsible for managing the laboratory budget and contributing to the growth of the laboratory
- Assist with NATA accreditation processes.

**About You**
To be considered for this role your skills and attributes should include:

- Tertiary Degree in Medical Laboratory Science -** (**MUST BE AIM'S ACCREDITED SCIENTIST)**:

- At least 5 years Laboratory Manager experience in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Strong knowledge of the market and trends. The ability to stay on top of industry changes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnerships
- Ability to influence to negotiate outcomes
- Experience in working under tight deadlines to meet day to day targets, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks within set timeline
- Works effectively as part of a broader team
- Results orientated and a proactive and effective problem solver
- Proven skills in defining, prioritising and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity at all times
