The University Library provides resources, services and spaces that enable and support staff and students to achieve success in their research, teaching and learning. These activities include collection development and management, both physical and electronic; services associated with the discovery of, access to and use of information resources; provision of flexible study spaces and guardianship of special and heritage collections. Services and resources are provided online and from the physical locations of the Barr Smith Library, the Sir John Salmond Law Library and libraries at Waite and Roseworthy campuses.
Coordinator Copyright & Licensing works under limited direction and is responsible for managing copyright, digital resource licensing and other compliance as required for the University Library. The role serves as the University’s compliance officer for the Australian Copyright Act 1968 and provides a key copyright advocacy role, with an emphasis on the development and delivery of targeted training and advice to students and staff across teaching and research. The role will monitor amendments to copyright legislation, provide advice and encourage effective legal compliance by students and staff. The role is responsible for managing digital resource licenses, including analysing and interpreting licences, liaising with vendors and Legal & Risk about complex licence clauses and appropriately maintaining licence and permissions documentation. The role will also communicate licence terms and conditions to library staff and other key stakeholders and ensure compliance with licence agreements.
**To be successful you will need**:
- Proven working knowledge of Australian copyright legislation as it applies to Universities.
- Proven ability to read, comprehend and interpret legislation, policy documentation and license agreements.
- Demonstrated high level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to present complex concepts to a variety of audiences using both verbal and written formats.
- Proven ability to proactively build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer-focused service delivery.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and an ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Proven ability to work effectively, positively and collaboratively with a range of individuals at different levels across the University.
- Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
