National Procurement Manager

**The Context**
Our client is a thriving Australian FMCG brand forecasting double digit growth for the next five years. It is a prosperous era of growth and development. As the National Procurement Manager, your leadership will be pivotal to achieve of the wider business strategy.
This organisation has portfolio of successful products in high demand throughout all the leading supermarkets Australia, complimented by and an innovative pipeline of new products that excite consumers nationwide.
In terms of direct procurement:
- Raw material supply is managed through collaboration with Australian farmers.
- Manufacturing is in-house and takes place in Australia.
- The distribution network operates using a carefully calibrated 3PL model.
You will also be setting the strategy and managing indirect procurement.
**The Role (Tasks and Decisions)**
Support the delivery of the tactical and strategic horizons by:
- Developing an understanding of strategy and advocating opportunities to maximise effectiveness from procurement activities in a commercial manner (underpinned by quality and safety).
- Implement strategic procurement processes to ensure best value raw material and service sourcing including site utilities.
- Implement appropriate controls to ensure materials purchases are in line with delegated authority and overall business policy.
- Deliver long-term strategy for Ag procurement ensuring seasonal supply of key raw material commodities and long-term de-risking of our key supply chains for raw materials.
- Develop strategic sourcing category plans which deliver sustainability, risk management, responsible sourcing outcomes in line with the strategic 5-year plan.
- Be responsible for key supply KPIs including delivery of direct material COGS in line with budget, Vendor delivery (SIFOT), Vendor quality outcomes.
- Support the factory and business with all aspects of supply. Understand factory needs / supplier and customer insights / local constraints and regulation.
- Manage the tendering, contract negotiation, contract management processes in line with best practise for both direct and indirect materials.
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive process and service improvement.
- Liaise effectively with JV Partners to ensure effective procurement, planning and purchasing activities.
- Manage site services, ensuring effective delivery and commercial outcomes for the business.
- Drive supplier engagement through quarterly service reviews with key material and services suppliers.
- Support overhead management.

- Demonstrated ability to business partner by challenging and influencing decisions.
- A proven track record in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Commercial acumen and agility.
- Understanding of profit drivers externally (e.g. suppliers) and internally to drive effective commercial outcomes.
- Ability to distil, analysis and generate insights which spur executional actions.
- Disciplined planning and follow up.
- Effective project management capability.
**Knowledge**
- Tertiary qualified, with a degree in Supply Chain, Business or similar.
- SAP experience (highly desirable).
- Sound knowledge tendering guidelines.
- Fundamental understanding of Vendor Management practices.
**Experience**
- Commercial experience within FMCG.
- Extensive Strategic procurement experience across multiple functional areas, businesses, or role types.
- Direct procurement / supply chain experience within the agricultural sector or with a manufacturing customer of the Ag sector.
