Conduct investigations into significant incidents occurring in custodial correctional centres and in relation to community corrections services as required. Ascertain causes and contributing factors and determine measures for future prevention and recommendations for practice improvement.
- Prepare high quality reports and advice for provision to the Director, Operational Inspection and Major Incident Review Group and the Assistant Commissioner, Professional Standards and Governance in relation to significant issues and trends identified during investigations, reviews and inspections.
- Monitor intelligence and investigation reports and analyse trends and report data to direct decisions on thematic review focus areas.
- Participate in the planning, conduct and documentation of inspections of correctional centres and community corrections services. Assess the services against a set of standards. Make recommendations for practice improvements based on evidence and findings from inspections. Encourage the process of continual improvement in service delivery across Queensland Corrective Services.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external inspectors, and relevant Agency personnel to ensure investigations and inspections are undertaken consistently within a risk management framework and in compliance with the prescribed framework, legislative guidelines and policies and procedures.
- Provide regular advice to the Managing Inspector and Director, Operational Inspection and Major Incident Review Group on the progress work of investigations, reviews, thematic reviews, inspections and research work.
- Maintain communication and high levels of liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Participate in working groups, committees and meetings as required.

Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements
There are no mandatory qualifications or requirements for this position, however qualifications in investigations, inspections and/or evaluation would be highly desirable.
Formal qualifications in the social sciences, criminology, law or similar would also be highly regarded.
Travel may be a requirement for this position as this position may be required to work at different QCS sites throughout the state.
