**About the role**:
The Workforce and Population portfolio within the Department of State Development demonstrates the commitment to building and developing the state’s human capital to meet economic ambitions and the strong interconnectedness between the policy areas of population and workforce.

As the Manager, Population Strategy, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and high-quality population policy advice is provided to the Agency Executive, the Minister and other agencies. The role is also responsible for leading a team that will contribute to the development of evidence-based population policy responses and initiatives that are needed to support economic growth and deliver on the state’s economic ambitions. Areas of policy development include retention of existing population, as well as attraction of people from interstate and labour force participation and utilisation.
- Knowledge of relevant recent policies and trends in Australian and South Australian population, labour force and related economic impacts, and an understanding of the associated potential policy responses, trends, and influences.
- Significant policy development, implementation, evaluation and/or reform experience, with a high level of expertise in one or more significant areas of government policy.
- Proven strong conceptual and policy analytical thinking, development, and evaluation abilities, with a capacity to interpret and synthesise disparate information at the macro level.
- Proven knowledge of, or the demonstrated ability to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of population policy and associated economic concepts, frameworks, requirements, and opportunities.
- Proven experience in researching and writing policy advice, analysis, reports, and timely briefings on significant and sensitive policy issues to Ministers, executive and senior levels across the public and private sectors including delivering policy and/or project management within the context of government decision making processes, including Cabinet and Parliament processes.

**Remuneration**:
Competitive salary ($121,107 min - $125,679 max pa) plus superannuation

**Qualifications**:

- **Essential**: Nil
- **Desirable**: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.

**Special Conditions**:

- The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE), **12 month contract until 1 November 2025** with potential for ongoing.
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
