The Investment & Commercial Manager will lead investment attraction and facilitation services (market entry validation, introductions, place based advice, cross-government approvals, project management and access to government financial support) to deliver targeted investment projects (domestic and foreign direct investment) thereby contributing to economic and ecosystem growth within the City of Melbourne. Critical for this role is collaborating with the investment and trade teams within the State and Federal governments (in the Melbourne and overseas offices) as well key industry associations.

The Investment & Commercial Manager will be required to manage multiple investment projects in varying stages of maturity, negotiate grant agreements that may draw on funds from MCRF2, State or Federal Government investment attraction funds and manage all required CoM and other approvals. In addition, the Investment & Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing the implementation and governance MCRF2 related initiatives and will work closely with the CEO Invest Melbourne, to ensure effective strategic oversight of these initiatives and the program.

This role actively contributes to significant cross-organisational priorities where there is alignment or interface with these Funds, and is a key program contact with Victorian Government counterparts.

A key function of this role is leading and contributing to a broad spectrum of decision-making meetings including; strategy, design, delivery, communications and stakeholder workshops to influence outcomes and ensure the objectives of the Funds are being met.

The position requires proven leadership in achieving outcomes within a complex and political cultural environment. It will rely on building and maintaining strong effective relationships with key stakeholders to achieve position objectives.

- Lead investment projects (domestic and foreign direct investment) and deliver investment attraction and facilitation services (market entry validation, introductions, place based advice, cross-government approvals, project management and access to government financial support) to targeted investment projects thereby contributing to economic and ecosystem growth within the City of Melbourne.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders in government and lead associations and develop and investment project pipeline, manage a customer relationship management system, manage multiple investments projects that will be in varying stages of maturity, negotiate grant agreements that may draw on funds from MCRF2, State or Federal Government investment attraction funds and manage all required CoM and other approvals.
- Oversee the implementation of MCRF2, and other relevant Invest Melbourne priorities and programs, ensuring objectives are met and appropriate governance is in place for the broader funds, and for respective projects and initiatives. Work constructively with key stakeholders - including the Victorian Government - to ensure best practice outcomes can be realised.
- Provide sound advice and recommendations which influence the decisions made by others, including supervisors and peers, in the monitoring, development, communication and delivery of projects and initiatives.
- Chair and / or participate in key decision-making meetings, strategy workshops and project management meetings to influence projects and ensure optimal operational and reputational outcomes.
- Support the Director, General Manager and divisional directors to identify and work through strategic challenges and opportunities involved in the implementation and delivery of the programs of work.
- Identify new opportunities for pilot projects, innovation initiatives and strategic partnerships that will support City recovery and reactivation prioriti
