Join our esteemed Building and Environmental Health Unit in a permanent full-time role, offering a great opportunity to contribute to our onsite sewage management program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and standards for Onsite Sewage Management Systems, overseeing their design, construction, operation, maintenance, and monitoring. Acting as one of the main points of contact, you will engage with the public, contractors, and stakeholders, addressing their inquiries and concerns regarding onsite sewage management, and fostering effective communication.

**About the role**:

- conduct site inspections and evaluate performance of existing Onsite Sewage Management Systems.
- respond to complaints and conduct investigations into potential breaches of environmental and health regulations and standards
- prepare and maintain digitalised records and reports

**We are seeking**:

- minimum trade qualification such as plumbing, or equivalent experience in OSSM or a related field
- knowledge of plumbing and drainage principles and best practice operation and maintenance
- competence in the use of computer systems
- good customer service skills

**Essential**:
1. Minimum trade qualification, such as plumbing, or equivalent experience in onsite sewage management, or a related field.
2. An understanding of plumbing and drainage principles and best practice operation and maintenance of domestic on-site sewage systems and standards.
3. Demonstrated ability to understand, and the capacity to apply, legislation, policy, and procedures.
4. Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and prioritise workloads.
5. Ability to work as part of a team which includes consultation, sharing of information and working collaboratively.
6. Demonstrated competence in written and oral communication skills.
7. Competence in the use of computer systems.
8. Good customer service skills including conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
9. Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver inspection targets within set timeframes.
10. Current Vehicle Licence - Car.

**Desirable**:
11. Knowledge of and understanding of the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
12. Recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
